ND42SW 8002 unlocated

NLO: Thurso [name: ND 115 687]

Portsoy [name: NJ 590 665]

Pentland Firth [name centred ND 35 81]..

Formerly entered as ND90SE 8007 (unlocated).

Possibly within Maritime - Aberdeenshire.

Scrabster, 27th Nov. The ELIZABETH (smack), of Inverness, Morrison, from Thurso to Portsoy, with flagstones, sprung a leak 25th Nov., and sunk.

Source: LL, No. 16,113, London, Friday, December 1 1865.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 10883).

(Classified as smack, with cargo of flagstones: date of loss cited as 25 November 1865). Elizabeth: this vessel foundered between Thurso and Portsoy.

Registration: Inverness.

(Location of loss cited as N58 10.00 W3 0.00).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The map sheet and quasi-administrative area assigned to this record are essentially arbitrary, being derived from the unverified location of loss that is cited by Whittaker.

The loss of this vessel may have occurred within the quasi-administrative area that is designated Maritime - Aberdeenshire.

This vessel evidently foundered.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 22 December 2006.
