This station was built in the 1990's as an intermediate station (and present interim terminus) on the Bo'ness and Kinneil Rly, the preserved line of the Scottish Railway Preservation Society. The line itself was formerly the Bo'ness branch of the North British Rly, and closed to regular passenger traffic on 7 May 1956.
