Central shield surrounded by leaves with a bow at the top, all within a circular frame. The shield contains the coat of arms of the University of Edinburgh: a St Andrew's cross with an open book at the centre, a thistle above, a castle below. Low relief carving in centre of pediment structure above windows above main entrance.
