Craigie NS 4280 3254 NS43SW 6

This fort is situated on a low hill 220m NNE of Craigie parish church; the ground falls away steeply on the E, N and W, the only easy line of approach being from the S. The interior measures 70.5m from ENE to WSW by 62m transversely and for most of the circuit the rampart has been reduced to little more than a band of rubble which seldom rises more than 0.4m above the level of the interior and peters out against rock outcrops at several places. On the ESE, where it is best preserved, the rampart is spread up to 3.8m in thickness and stands to a maximum height of 0.8m externally, and around the E a few possible outer facing stones are visible. There is a well-defined entrance 3.4m wide on the SSW.

RCAHMS 1985, visited (SH) March 1985.
