Scope and Content Millburn Distillery, Millburn Road, Inverness, Highland This distillery was probably founded in 1825, but may have been in operation as early as 1807. From 1853 to 1876 it appears to have been a grain mill, owned by David Rose, who then rebuilt it as a distillery. It was rebuilt after a fire in 1922 by Booth's Distillery Co, and bought in 1943 by The Distillers' Co Ltd. This shows part of the distillery from the north-west, with the office in the centre, and the main production buildings to the right and at the rear. The maltings and warehouses are out of sight to the right. This distillery was closed in 1985, the last of the three Inverness distilleries to operate. Most of the buildings were demolished in 1989, but the buildings seen here were retained and converted into a restaurant. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
