Scope and Content Detail of the tomb of Sir John Forrester, Corstorphine Old Parish Church, Corstorphine, Edinburgh Corstorphine Old Parish Church dates from the early 15th century, and became a collegiate church in 1429, founded by Sir John Forrester. It stands, surrounded by its churchyard, in Kirk Loan, at the historic centre of the old village of Corstorphine. The tomb of Sir John Forrester lies in the north wall of the chancel, surrounded by a broad moulded arch of almost triangular profile, the ends of which are carved with angels holding shields bearing the coat of arms of the Forrester family. The coat of arms of the Forrester family was three hunting horns within a shield. Their crest was a dog's head, and their motto was 'Hunter bla yr horn' (Hunter blow your horn).
