Scope and Content Forebank Dyeworks, Victoria Road, Dundee, Angus This works developed over a long period. In 1875 a new front block was built, when Victoria Road was laid out, by J and F Stevenson. Behind this frontage were the dyeshops. The third storey was added after a fire in 1893. This view shows the front block from the south west. It was designed to present a fair face to the new street, and could also be seen from a distance. It is a plain but neat example of the Dundee building style of the period. The buildings to the rear were demolished in the early 1980s, and the front block converted into housing. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
