Perth Harbour General View

SC 529669

Description Perth Harbour General View

Date 12/4/1978

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 529669

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Perth Harbour, Perthshire This harbour is the upper limit of the Tay navigation. The basin was formed in 1830, but the quays were refaced in the mid 20th century with sheet piling and concrete. This view shows the basin from the south west, with two of the small coastal motorships which were representative of the shipping using the harbour in the 1970s. Though apparently entirely of the 20th century, the form of the 1830s work was retained. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
