Scope and Content Warehouse, Whitehills Harbour, Banffshire This warehouse is situated beside the old harbour at Whitehills, which has been almost completely demolished. This building was probably built as a granary for storing locally-grown corn for shipment. This view shows the warehouse from the north east. Note the forestair to give access to the first floor, and the louvred openings, a characteristic feature of granary buildings. There is a basement on the seaward side. The coastal plain of Banffshire and Moray is one of the best parts of Scotland for growing corn, especially barley, and the harbours along the coast all had grain stores.
