Scope and Content Glendale Mill, Skye This is a small west highland water-powered corn mill, serving a crofting township, which was restored to working condition in 1968-9 as a visitor attraction. The restoration was in the spirit of the original, rather than being strictly accurate. This view shows the mill from the north west. The mill proper is on the left, and the detached kiln on the right. Both buildings were originally slated. The small size of the mill reflects the limited arable farming potential of the surrounding area. The mill has been restored with a single pair of stones from Rogart Mill, Sutherland, driven an all-iron overshot wheel of c1902. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
