Scope and Content View of Cherry Park from Dun na Cuaiche, Inveraray estate, Argyll and Bute John Adam (1721-92) began work on Cherry Park in 1760 but only one range was roofed before the 3rd Duke of Argyll died in 1761. The 5th Duke commissioned William Mylne (1734-90) to alter and complete the court, and it was finished by 1772. This court of offices, which consists of four ranges surrounding a courtyard, is situated 230m west of Inveraray Castle. All the ranges can be seen in this view from Dun na Cuaiche. The range in front is the east range, the main entrance to the court. There is an avenue between Cherry Park and Inveraray Castle. Water choked with rushes occupied the ground between the castle and Cherry Park. This area was improved once the river was embanked in 1778. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
