Scope and Content Sugar refinery, Roxburgh Street and Sir Michael Street, Greenock, Renfrewshire This building is thought to have been a sugar refinery. If so, it belongs to the generation before what came to be the industry standard of a red and white brick building with a flat roof topped with a cast-iron water tank. This view shows the building from the south east. a seven storey, six by 5-bay sandstone squared rubble structure, with segmentally arched cart entries on the ground floors. This building was used as a warehouse in 1975, but it has since been demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
