Scope and Content Pilmuir Works (linen), Pilmuir Street, Dunfermline, Fife This is one of a number of linen damask factories in this part of Dunfermline. The Italianate range fronting Pilmuir Street is an example of competitive building, and conceals more modest buildings to the rear. This view shows the Pilmuir Street frontage from the south east. The mills are more modest in scale than the heavy linen mills of Dundee and Angus. The mills are still in use for textile manufacture, but now use synthetic fibres.
