Scope and Content Allanton Brick Tile and Fireclay Works, Morningside, Lanarkshire This was a large works that latterly specialised in the manufacture of salt-glazed fireclay sewer pipes, though it had earlier made a broader range of products, including chimney cans. This view shows the stockyard, with some typical products, and a group of circular downdraught kilns to the rear. This works was bought by the Hepworth Group, an English company making unglazed clay sewer pipes, who closed the works in 1978 and demolished it in the following year.
