Scope and Content Fireclay workers' housing, Allandale Cottages, near Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire This village was built to house workers in the adjacent Castlecary fireclay works and clay mines of John G Stein & Co Ltd The housing is all of one storey, though the houses on the north side of the street have attics. This view shows the village from the north west, illustrating the remarkable uniformity of the housing. The Castlecary Works closed in 1980, and has since been demolished. It was in its day one of the largest plants in Scotland making refractory products. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
