Scope and Content Harbour, Kingholm Quay, Dumfriesshire This quay and basin were rebuilt as the port of Dumfries when ships could no longer reach the town centre. Apart from a quayed stretch of the river bank there is a small tidal basin with a system of sluices to scour silt out. This view shows the quayed stretch of river bank, looking downstream, with brick transit sheds on the left. The harbour is now only used by a few pleasure craft. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
