Scope and Content Longannet ammunition depot, Fife Luftwaffe aerial photograph of Longannet ammunition depot and the Kincardine Bridge, taken during World War II. Only five of the seventeen ammunition bunkers visible in this photograph remain, the others having been destroyed during the construction of Longannet power station, which now stands on the site. The Kincardine Bridge is visible to the west. The German Luftwaffe took aerial photographs of parts of Scotland throughout World War II. The photographs were used for intelligence work, such as selecting targets, assessing bombing accuracy and finding equipment and defensive positions. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
