Date 25/4/1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 431509

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Murrayshall Limekilns, Cambusbarron, Stirlingshire This is one of three ranges of limekilns which drew their limestone from an exposed seam in the Cambusbarron area. This view shows the front of the kilns. The lower arches lead to the front drawholes of the three kiln shafts, and the taller arches give access to the side drawholes: each shaft has three drawholes. The kilns are unusually low in comparison with contemporary kilns elsewhere in central Scotland. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
