Scope and Content Peebles Station, Peebles-shire This was the North British Railway's station in Peebles, rebuilt to handle commuting traffic to Edinburgh and Galashiels, for the town was popular with well-to-do business people in both towns. This view shows the large but rather clumsy building, built in terra-cotta brick with stone dressings. Behind this was a very wide platform to cope with the large number of passengers using the station in the mornings. The line to Edinburgh was built by the Peebles Railway, which opened in 1855.
