Scope and Content Breadalbane Crescent, Wick, Highland Wick, a royal burgh since 1589, remained a small town until after 1801 when Thomas Telford planned the harbour and new town on behalf of the British Fisheries Society. By the middle of the 19th century, Wick was Europe's largest herring port. Breadalbane Crescent was built in about 1860, but in the old-fashioned Georgian style of a half-century earlier. The attic level is lit by dormer windows. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
