Scope and Content Fort at Evelick, Perth and Kinross The fort at Evelick is situated at the south-east angle of a prominent ridge, overlooking the north flank of Pitroddie Den. It is a multi-period site, and a substantial part of the earthworks are still standing. This is an aerial view of the fort. It is oval on plan, defined by a rampart. Further defences lie to the north and west (on the right side of the image). The main rampart has three entrances. Circular marks show the likely position of houses. The positions of several timber round houses have been located within the fort. The largest, at about 14m in diameter, is placed almost centrally. A two-roomed rectangular building, built over the west rampart, is much later in date. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
