Scope and Content Balconies of auditorium, Opera House, Dunfermline, Fife Dunfermline Opera House was built in 1900 by Roy Jackson, a Perth architect and theatre manager. It was recast in 1921 to the designs of J W Swanston. It closed in 1955 and, after serving as a furniture store, was demolished in the 1980s. The most expensive seats were in the first balcony, seen here in the lower part of the picture. In its heyday, the auditorium could accommodate a full house of 1,250 people.
