Scope and Content Statue of Andrew Carnegie, Pittencrieff House, Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline, Fife Pittencrieff House was built in about 1635 for Sir Alexander Clerk of Pittencrief. It was bought in 1902 by Andrew Carnegie who presented it to the nation in 1903. In 1909-11 Robert S Lorimer converted it to a museum and club. This statue was made by Richard Goulden in 1913-14 to commemorate the recent death of Andrew Carnegie. Andrew Carnegie (1835-1914) was born in Dunfermline and emigrated to the United States to make his fortune. He returned home as a rich philanthropist, and funded projects for the public good, like parks and museums. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
