Scope and Content 1680 lintel, Meickle Daan, Highland The farmhouse at Meickle Daan was probably built in the late 17th century and remodelled in the 18th century. It replaced an earlier house on the same site. A carved fireplace from the house is now in Balnagowan Castle. This lintel bears the date 1680 and the initials AM and MF for Alexander Munro, minister of Edderton, and his wife Margaret Forrester. The same initials are found on the fireplace in Balnagowan Castle. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
