Scope and Content Chambered cairn at Kilchoan, Kilmartin, Argyll and Bute The remains of this cairn lie on a low ridge 150m north-west of Kilchoan Lodge. The Clyde-type chamber is exposed as much of the cairn material has been removed at some point in the past - probably to be reused for building nearby walls. This is a view of the remains of the chamber. It is formed from a series of slabs and was entered at the north-east end. Inside, further slabs divide the chamber into three compartments. The chamber was examined by R Mapleton in 1864. Finds included burnt bone, flint tools (now in the Royal Museum of Scotland) and a Food Vessel (in the West Highland Museum, Fort William).
