Scope and Content Temporary camp at Battledykes, Oathlaw, Angus This Roman temporary camp is at Battledykes. In 1755, most of the camp was visible on the ground. However, it is on cultivated land, and continual ploughing has reduced the remains so only part of a titulus (a bank protecting a gateway) survives. This is an aerial view of the site. Two sides and a corner of the camp can be clearly seen as cropmarks in the centre of the image. It is reported that the camp was originally protected by two ramparts and a ditch.
