Scope and Content Symbol stone at Brandsbutt, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire The symbol stone at Brandsbutt has been reconstructed out of fragments found in a dyke near what had been a stone circle. The ogam inscription may mean Eddarrnonn or St Etharnanus, suggesting the stone was a form of personal memorial. The SE face is incised with a crescent and V-rod and a serpent and Z-rod. Both of these are decorated. The ogam inscription IRATADDOARENS runs down the left hand side of the face. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
