Description View of front of stone photographed in daylight.

Catalogue Number SC 336076

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of B 48070 S

Scope and Content Symbol stone known as Kintore 1 at Kintore Churchyard, Kintore, Aberdeenshire The Kintore 1 symbol stone is unusual in that it has symbols on both faces. It was found underground in the churchyard and now stands by the inner face of the churchyard wall near the entrance. This is a view of the S face, which is carved with two symbols. A fish, possibly a salmon, lies above a triple-disc and bar, or cauldron. Both symbols are well shaped and are of a different style to those on the north face. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
