Scope and Content This view shows the western section of the Southern Distributor Road (A8082) in Inverness. The Essich Roundabout is just below centre and Holm is at lower left, with Holm Dell at lower right. The buildings at Culduthel Mains and Slackbuie are at top right. To the left of the Essich roundabout is Lochardil woods and towards the top of picture is Inverness Royal Academy, with Rollerbowl, the Gaelic Primary School and Asda towards top left. In advance of development, excavation uncovered an extensive prehistoric and mediaeval landscape in this area. The IRA building has since been replaced by a new school, built nearer the tree line. Stratherrick Road and Essich Road running left to right through the Essich roundabout are on a section of the 1726 military road. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
