Scope and Content This is a view of Nigg Fabrication Yard with Nigg Ferry in the foreground. The Fabrication Yard was opened in 1972. There are remains of a saltworks in the basin at centre and military remains at Nigg Ferry. The pier at Nigg Ferry is the terminal for the Nigg-Cromarty ferry. The ferry crossing between Cromarty and Nigg is well documented going back to Robert the Bruce. The site of Dunskeath House is just above the pier. This house was used as a naval hospital during WW1, but was destroyed by fire in 1960. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
