Scope and Content Fort at Cramond, City of Edinburgh This Roman fort is at Cramond, overlooking the confluence of the River Almond with the Forth. Most of the site now lies under modern structures, including a church, graveyard and a car park. There were several phases of occupation on the site. This view was taken during the excavation of the site. This shows a section of a stone-lined drain. This ran from the N gate of the fort to the Firth of Forth. The fort has been excavated several times. Auxiliary garrisons included, a cohort of Tungrians and one of Gauls. Finds are now in Huntly House Museum and the Royal Museum of Scotland, both in Edinburgh. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
