Scope and Content A wide view with small modern Inverness harbour on the River Ness in the lower left. To its right the large collection of white storage tanks occupy much of the site of the 17th century Cromwell's Fort. Further right is the railway viaduct, a nineteenth century structure which suffered a partial collapse in 1988. The central spans were replaced soon afterwards. To its right is the Waterloo Bridge of 1896 on the site of the earlier Black Bridge. Above the bridges, upper right and beyond the large woodland plantations is the Culloden Battlefield.
