Aerial view of Morilemore, S of Tomatin, near Inverness, looking N.

SC 1863089

Description Aerial view of Morilemore, S of Tomatin, near Inverness, looking N.

Date 1987

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1863089

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content The road down the photo is now a minor road, leading S from Tomatin, at the W of the Findhorn River, although previously the main (A9) road south from Inverness. At the top of the photo the road crosses the Neacrath Bridge, over the Allt Neacrath. This is a Telford Bridge on the old parliamentary road. Just below centre is the cruck-framed Morilemore Farm, with it's three-sided steading. At the left of the photo, on the higher ground, is the Morilemore prehistoric field system with field boundaries and lynchets. The leg of Findhorn Bridge rail viaduct is just visible at the top right of the photo. The two circular features at bottom L are probably cattle feeding stances. The area of the photo has now (2020) been heavily built on. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
