Scope and Content Titled: 'Maudslie Castle' with descriptive caption: 'This elegant seat, by many thought to be the most beautiful mansion on the Clyde, was built by the late Earl of Hyndford in 1792, from a design by Adam, the celebrated architect. It is a turreted structure of great elegance, situated in an extensive and richly wooded park. Proudly rising on the lovely banks of the broad and clear river, surrounded by extensive lawns and wooded slopes, and adorned with a lovely background of hills, covered with orchards and meadows, it has a very grand and imposing appearance. It has been much improved by successive proprietors. It is now the property of James Hozier, Esq.'. PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM No.164: LANARKSHIRE ALBUM
