Scope and Content Charles Laing and Son. Interior. Casting Process. Making up the mould.'Ramming up' the top part (cope) of the mould using a pole to firm up the packing. The ramming should be neither too light nor too hard as this will affect the final casting. Cover the top half of the mould (cope) with green sand (with aditional ingredients to aid with the quality of the casting).
