Scope and Content This is a chapter (Chapter 11) entitled 'Archaeology and Heritage' from a larger report, concerning the likely effects on cultural heritage interests of the construction and operation of the proposed tram line 2, intended to run from St Andrew Square to Edinburgh Airport and Newbridge. 273 archaeological and heritage sites were identified along the assessment corridor, classified as: 1 World Heritage Site, 3 Scheduled Ancient Monuments (listed in Appendix 1): 173 Listed Buildings (Appendix 1), 36 other sites of archaeological interest (Appendix 2), 54 other sites of architectural interest (Appendix 3) 3 Outstanding Conservation areas(Appendix 1), and 3 Inventory status Historic Gardens and Designated Landscapes (Appendix 1) Mitigation proposals were made, including watching briefs, photographic records, a programme of archaeological recording, archaeological evaluation of areas of agricultural land with further mitigation responses as appropriate, and preservation in situ of the buried remains of Nether Gogar village. All archaeological mitigation works to be detailed in a Written Scheme of Investigation, and provision made for post-excavation analysis, publication and archiving of the results. This report comprises 37 numbered pages, 3 Appendices as 33 unnumbered pages, and 10 diagram/maps. The majority of the site locations listed in the report have been listed in this index.
