SUERC-9502

Sample 31 Context 14 The charcoal was recovered from soil lying between rough paving within the centre of roundhouse. The paving lay upon the natural subsoil, within an annular depression and appears to be a secondary feature within the roundhouse. The paving was sealed by collapsed sandy bank material. A total weight of 3.81g was recovered and the charcoal is of medium size and unabraded. The charcoal is assumed to represent hearth waste from the structure's occupation and to have been incorporated into the spaces between the paving as the structure was used. Following the abandonment of the structure the bank collapsed and the paving was sealed.
