C14 Radiocarbon Dating - Sample - SUERC-9011
SUERC-9011
Sample 142 Context 570 Brown organic layer containing uncrushed shells, mainly mussel. This layer overlay an organic layer [412/413] that sealed the Late Mesolithic midden. It thus represents the latest evidence for human activity associated with this midden. It was sealed by wind-blown sand [408]. The sample shell is from a small discrete deposit of complete and uncrushed shells. It is likely that little time passed between death and it's incorporation into the midden.
