Scottish Radiocarbon Database

SUERC-8928

Sample T16 Sample I Context n/a A sediment core (Core B1/1E) from an incised but now peat- and sediment-filled gully 40m long and 4m wide on a steep slope in rough pasture at 320m OD. The mire stratigraphy suggests conformable, undisturbed and continuous peat accumulation and frequent introduction of eroded mineral sediments. The requested assay is for a 1.0cm sub-sample at 114.0cm depth. The sample is of amorphous and visible plant matter from in situ peat accumulation within the mire. The 14C assay will relate directly to pollen and sediment data from this sediment
