SUERC-6711

A charred barley grain (Sample 4) from a central hearth 167. The hearth material comprised large amounts of ashy sandy silt and charcoal. It was cut by a small gully and overlain by occupation deposits. The hearth showed evidence of being in use over several years. The charred cereal grain is likely to have become incorporated into the context while it was being cooked or processed on the hearth. No more than 5 years is likely to have passed between the death of the grain and its incorporation in the context.
