C14 Radiocarbon Dating - Sample - SUERC-5790

Return to Index

Scottish Radiocarbon Database

SUERC-5790

A charred barley grain (Sample ##) from the lower part of the 'Early Neolithic' midden in Trench C. The grain was presumably dumped with ash from the adjacent house. The pottery from this area was round-based bowl. Since each house is interpreted as having its own midden, there is no prima facie reason to suppose it was old material brought in from a by then old site.
