A piece of oak charcoal (Sample 15 (Bag 2)) from a sealed layer 053 within the very large post-hole 224 at the north end of the North Cursus. Burning took place in situ, and the charcoal may come from the post. The post-hole pre-dated the cursus, and held a very large upright. It was cut into natural gravel.
