SUERC-10861
Sample CH06#67 Context 183 Floor layer 183 in House 150 in Area C (fourth and last floor of east room in double roundhouse in northwest). Deposit of laminated black and orange lenses of peat ash forming a floor layer above fill layers 201, 202, 231 and 232 and sealed by fill layer 160. (Layer 160 is five layers below 108 which has a radiocarbon date of 2310 ± 65 uncal BP [AA-17477; 750-200 cal BC] ). Site Phase 16. The carbonised barley grain is most likely to have been deposited as the result of activities within the house in which material became charred from contact with the hearth fire. Very little time is likely to have elapsed between the seed's charring and its incorporation into the archaeological context of the floor deposit.
