C14 Radiocarbon Dating - Sample - SUERC-10860
SUERC-10860
Sample CH06#66 Context 233 Floor layer 233 in House 150 in Area C (second floor of east room in double roundhouse in northwest). Deposit of laminated orange lenses of peat ash forming a floor layer above floor layer 233, and sealed by floor layer 202. Site Phase 16. The carbonised barley grain is most likely to have been deposited as the result of activities within the house in which material became charred from contact with the hearth fire. Very little time is likely to have elapsed between the seed's charring and its incorporation into the archaeological context of the floor deposit.
