C14 Radiocarbon Dating - Sample - SUERC-10849
SUERC-10849
Sample CH06#51 Context 632 Floor layer 632 of House 640 (double roundhouse in northeast). Deposit of laminated black and orange lenses of peat ash forming a thin floor layer above fill layer 716 and 718 and sealed by fill layer 628. Site Phase 12. The carbonised barley grain is most likely to have been deposited as the result of activities within the house in which material became charred from contact with the hearth fire. Very little time is likely to have elapsed between the seed's charring and its incorporation into the archaeological context of the floor deposit.
