Sample CH06#23 Context 1308 Floor 1308 in House 401 (the second floor in the middle roundhouse). Deposit of thin, laminated black and orange lenses of peat ash forming a floor layer above fill layer 1310 and sealed by fill layer 800. Site Phase 10. The unfused right cattle femur is most likely to have been deposited on the floor as a result of activities within the house in which butchered bones were brought indoors. Very little time is likely to have elapsed between the animal's death and the femur's incorporation into the archaeological context of the floor deposit.
