C14 Radiocarbon Dating - Sample - SRR-289

Return to Index

Scottish Radiocarbon Database

SRR-289

Charcoal from a timber c 15cm in diameter, probably not oak, from the SW end of the Phase 2 mortuary enclosure context (30: VII: 71/2), in an earthen long barrow. This measurement conflicts with I-6113 (5190 +/- 105 BP) from same timber. Should be contemporary with SRR290 (4535 +/-55 BP) from comparable timber nearby. Note however that these two SRR dates do not form an acceptable grouping unless the errors are multiplied by 1.1.
