C14 Radiocarbon Dating - Sample - GU-3527

Return to Index

Scottish Radiocarbon Database

GU-3527

Hazel and alder charcoal from F30, the lower fill of pit F19 with abundant pottery and carbonised plant remains characteristic of crop cleaning or processing waste, which indicates that this deposit consists of domestic refuse and that the charcoal is unlikely to have been of significant age before deposition. The pit lay below the leached horizon of the overall podsolic profile and it cut an earlier hill-wash deposit, which itself sealed a sub rectangular structure.
