Scottish Radiocarbon Database

AA-26977

A single piece of birch from the fill of the ring-ditch round the roundhouse. While the material it contains probably came mostly from the degrading house, the dates from single pieces of charcoal from this context suggest that both Neolithic and Iron Age charcoal had found their way into the ditch fill. This date from a single piece of charcoal is preferred to a bulk date from the same context GU-7285 as a date from the context. The dates AA-26978-9 suggest residual Neolithic charcoal.
