NE Passage Grave. A piece of hazel charcoal from one of two (S.4 and 5) samples taken from the surface of the old land surface buried beneath a substantial deposit of erratic blocks and what are probably redeposited. Micromorphological analysis carried out by Professor Donald Davidson and Dr Ian Simpson strongly suggests that this results from burning of the site before cairn construction.
